Program for Adults in Wheelchairs

by Gilda Walker
(Greensboro, NC, USA)

I would like to start a day program for Adults in Wheelchairs that offers a variety of enjoyable recreational activities including:

  • Travel opportunities
  • Wheelchair sports - basketball, pool, volleyball and ping pong
  • Cards - pinochle, poker, bid whist, rummy, and tonk
  • Swimming
  • Horseback riding
  • Golf
My purpose for starting a program like this is due to the lack of anything like it in the Greensboro, NC area. Personally, it it my thought that those in wheelchairs can lead exciting and fulfilling lives, in spite of any hinderances. I have a brother, whose life I would like to enrich and contribute to.

I'd like to know if there are those interested in participating in this program and if there are those interested in helping to start and run the program.

If there are any grantsmen out there who can contribute by writing grants, or any persons interested in donating towards or sponsoring such a cause, please feel free to contact me at gildwal@aol.com or 336 419-8857. Thanks.
