Mobility Walking Frames

Mobility walking frames offer independence for those who enjoy getting out on their own but need some additional assistance and stability to walk for longer periods of time. Wheeled walking frames are the easiest to use because they require less effort and enable users to walk with more ease and confidence.

There are a variety of wheeled models from which to choose. Two-wheeled frames are designed with the wheels in the front and two legs in the back to enhance stability. They are light weight and require some lifting over curbs and bumpy surfaces. As a result, they are best for inside use.

Three wheeled models are designed like a tricycle and are the easiest to maneuver and fit into tight spaces. They are not quite as stable as other models but may provide the mobility and turning capability that suits your needs.

Four-wheeled frames feel the most stable and can handle rougher surfaces than other styles. Brakes are important features and need to be carefully used with four-wheeled frames. These models tend to be heavier and often come with optional accessories such as trays, baskets or seats.

Always consult with your doctor and/or a medical equipment professional when you are looking at walking frames. Ask for help to ensure proper sizing and fit.

You will want to test a variety of models to see which feels the best to you. Make sure you use the frame for a long enough period of time to adequately evaluate stability, maneuverability and comfort. In addition, if there is a carrier net or basket, fill it up so you can get an idea of how the frame feels when you use it with the additional weight.
